How Do I Test My Car's Battery?

Without a battery, your car wouldn't have any power to run on. And keeping your car properly maintained means keeping an eye on your battery. But here at Jaguar Cerritos, we were surprised to learn that many drivers don't know anything about testing their batteries!

An instrument called a voltmeter will be able to tell you how much charge is left in your battery. Voltmeters come in an analog or digital version. Before using the voltmeter, it is crucial that your vehicle is turned off, the key is out of the ignition, and the lights are completely off. This is all for your own protection.

And every few years, or sooner if your battery has been damaged, you will need to replace your old battery with a new one. When you have decided that it is time for a battery replacement, don't forget to reach out to your local dealership.
